Known History of PGBI Paranaque Guardians
PGBI Paranaque must have been organized as early as the year 1980s. However, there were no tangible effort to make it visible to the maps of the PGBI Secretariat until 2009 wherein Dionisio FGBF Lawin 2nd Sanchez with then RMG Trex Legaspi (now also a Founder) decided to come up with a program/affair to make its presence felt. Then RMG Trex suggested to FGBF Lawin 2nd to come up with a program that would make PGBI Paranaque be included in the official roster of known chapters in the PGBI National HQ Secretariat. There have been rumors that the organization had been accredited to the HQ by Founder so and so but when RMG Trex checked, PGBI Paranaque isn't even in the list of accredited chapters in the PGBI Secretariat. That is why they decided to have an inauguration/induction of officers and come up with the idea to invite GS Gringo to highlight the said affair. There was a notable achievement for PGBI Paranaque since GS Gringo's Mistah and batchmate Bgen. Cesar "SGF Czar" Gopilan was marked as a Guardian in Paranaque in 2009 through the invitation of his long time friend RMG Trex.
FGBF Lawin, SGF Czar and RMG Trex together with active PGBI Paranaque members and uninducted officers went to the Senate and had informed GS Gringo about the said program. All planning, preparations were done by RMG Trex while FGBF Lawin was the one who invited politicians in Paranaque. He and RMG Trex visited "hibernating" founders, RMGs and MGs in Paranaque and informed them about the event,
That was why in 2009, PGBI Paranaque was OFFICIALLY REGISTERED with its officers inducted by no other than GS Gringo himself. PGBI Paranaque must have not been organized if not through the efforts done by the two gentlemen. We hope and pray that PGBI Paranaque remains united, active and always guided by the tenets and principles from wherein PGBI was founded.
The GUARDIANS Unification Process
As early as 1996, there were already exploratory talks among the various GUARDIANS factions nationwide to unify under one organization, one name and leadership. The move to unify was an offshoot of the following developments:
-
Rampant recruitment into the GUARDIANS’ various factions, short of undergoing the traditional strict screening process. Many of the new recruits, particularly among civilian members, were found not qualified and not deserving of being a MAGISTRATE, the acronym of the first letter of the word MAGIC Group. Some were found engaged in criminal and nefarious activities and other illegal schemes, thus are considered undesirables;
-
Exorbitant collection of dues and other unreasonable monetary solicitations from members. In most cases, the supposed chapter funds became the common cause of conflict and misunderstanding among members. Aside from this,there were occasions when even lawful orders of chapter officials were not followed;
-
With the aforementioned problems; unification among various factions became imperative and the new goal was to place all groups under one (1) umbrella organization, one (1) common Constitution and By-Laws and one (1) leadership;
-
Unification also aims to consolidate and reorient the members with regards to the objectives and directions of the organization and later to institute a cleansing process specifically aimed to those who violate legal orders and the organization’s Code of Conduct.
In December 1998, an initial unification meeting was held in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental through the initiative of ex-Capt. Ramon “SGF ESPHINX” Espino, who untiringly organized the Mindanao Convention together with his group. It was attended by prominent leaders and personalities among whom were: Former Senator Gregorio B. Honasan II, P/Insp. Leborio Jangao, Gil Taojo, Col. Anastacio Labitad, Col. Gregorio Duremdez, Col. Billy Bibit and Rev. Fr. Nilo Tayag.
The meeting was followed by another Convention held in Buhangin, Davao City in October 1999 where a new Constitution and By-Laws was drafted although it failed to gather a clear majority of regional representations. Majority of those who attended were coming from Mindanao chapters, except Zamboanga or Region IX. Only one from Luzon and few from the Visayas were present.
